First Block...

...is finished! I also chose the lower right corner to begin with, it is such an attractive block don't you think (also I was too lazy to start any blocks with bias stems yet!!). I am mainly using Kaffe/Brandon/Philip/Amy fabrics, but also using some Denise Schmidt (flea market fancy), Jennifer Paganelli, Keiko Goke, Sandi Henderson and Michael Miller (especially his dots). It is rather saturated, but hey, I love colour so why not throw it all in?!!
A closeup of the orange circle for Liza! (I have just received my copy of Kaffes new book Quilts en Provence and Liza has the most divine orange based quilt in the book called Fruit Salad, oh my!)
I am very happy with how the background is behaving. The dotty circles on the pastel Roman Glass fabric still show through and add another dimension to the applique I think.
It is so much fun making these wonderful blocks alongside quilters from around the world! Loving this blog!

  10. I love the colors .. I think that is one of the major reasons that I love the Kim patterns is that they allow so much of the quilter to express herself in different colors...You could use a different fabric and/or color for every piece in the quilt and the whole quilt would just go together awesomely. Cant wait to see more...ps..I am almost finished with my second Flower Pot block...need to do one more star..but of course have already started the third one...pictures to come...(alberta)
