Taking the plunge

I succumbed!!!

I have been a fan of Kaffe Fassetts colors and fabric for a long time but I could never conceive how to use them. I love Kim McLean's work and have admired her talent too. When the Roseville quilt came out recently I knew I could finally take the plunge.
I bought the pattern right away and have been looking for a background. I didn't want a polka dot (although I like the effect). I've been shopping around I felt I'd know when I found the right thing. I found it Saturday. It is in the background of the picture, a pale pale pale creamsicle. It makes me hungry (to begin).
Up until a few hours ago I didn't even own any of Kaffe's fabric above. It's going to be an interesting journey.

  2. Robin, this is going to be great fun for you and fun for us to see how you'll be putting it together. When I work out how to do a post, I'll put the photo of my Flower Pot quilt. This was the first quilt I did in Kaffe & Amy Butler. I only had about 30 fat quarters to work with and the quilt didn't turned out too great. The background was a joined up Robin Pandolf ( I hope this is spelt right) and there was not much contrast and when there was contrast, it was too much. I don't have any problem now, I have a BIG stash!
But, the girls in my class who made the quilt did much much better with their vast stash and the quilt you see in Liza's GloriousColor website is a quilt made by Sue Belzacki. I always smile when I get my Kaffe stash in the mail, it makes my day.

Have great fun with the fabrics - they are gorgeous.

    Cheers, Kim McLean

  3. I started off the same way, I didn't really know how to use the fabrics effectively but I got over that and now I have a stash which all started with a pack. It's hard to go back after working with such delicious fabrics.

Last Summer when I got Kim's Flower Pots pattern I KNEW I could USE those amazing fabrics with her wonderful design. You will have SUCH fun!!! Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I can't wait!!! Your background IS delicious. : D
