First Block Flower Pots

I started this last Tuesday and finished the first block last night.  Today at sewing class I have cut out the freezer paper templates for the next block ready to pull fabrics.  I decided to go out on a limb and choose a dark background which I think really makes the bright fabrics pop.

I have been reading this blog for quite a while and everyone is doing amazing work.  I am hoping that this will keep me motivated to get the quilt finished.  The first block came together really easy so maybe it won't take too long.

  4. What a daring choice of background fabric, Amanda! Love seeing how great it makes the colors look. I think it's going to make the finished quilt look so dynamic. That should be a great incentive to keep working. Looking forward to seeing the next block.

  6. What a wonderful background! It has a sense of movement to it and makes the colors pop. I really like that diagonal stripe as stems too. :)

  7. Fantastic choice, Amanda. I am shopping for Flower Pot fabrics this week and wanted a dark background--but in the end decided I really need a light one. But I'll try another one with a dark background--this looks terrific. I can't wait to see the rest of it.
