The flood waters just keep on rising

Well we are stuck with no way out we live on the highest part of the river in Maryborough Queesnland we have our own little island and all roads around us cut off so as the flood waters are rising it has only 2 metres to go and it will break the banks on this side of the river.

My partner is staying at the local hospital as he has renal failure and in need of a kidney pancres transplant so they didn't want him to get any kind of infection with all the muddy water lying around. So it is just me his Mum and Dad and my little dogs Toyo and Tinkerbell.

Only a minimal amount of sewing has been done im working on an applique crib quilt and everything else has been packed up and has been moved to a higher place.

We are expecting more heavy rain and if so were told we will have to be evacuated no one likes to leave there home ;(

Keep me in your thoughts.
Adele xx

  2. How absolutely dreadful for you. We have been seeing pictures on TV here in the UK but when you know who is suffering it makes more of an impact. Will be thinking of you and hoping that you will all survive this ordeal.

Even in South Africa we are aware of your floods and thinking of you. Praying with even more rain that you wouldn't have to evacuate.

  4. Here in the US we see daily footage of the unimaginably large area under water in Queensland. Flooding, it seems to me, is the worst kind of disaster. I hope the rains will cease soon and that you won't have to evacuate. Our hearts go out to all of you.

  5. Houston floods quite a bit, but nothing quite as devasting as what is happening there. We will pray that it stops raining and the floods recede! Take care of yourself and family!

  6. Having the whole world know what you are going through does not do anything to ease the situation. Yes, it is making news in Japan as well. I pray for a safe outcome for you and your family.

  10. Thank you for sharing your photos with us. I hope you will not have to leave your home because, as you said, that would be very hard. Of course your health and safety are the most important considerations so you will do what you have to do. Please continue to let us know how you are doing. We are thinking of you and wishing that all goes well and that the flooding stops soon. Take care, Adele....

  17. The flooding is just awful Adele! I'm so sorry you/your family are having to deal with this.
I hope they're wrong about any more rain coming and the water starts to recede. Have a kit packed up, just in case though?
Wishing you sunshine and happier days! :)

Just down the road from you (Hervey Bay). Was just thinking today how lucky we are as no floods here that I know about. Really feel for everyone going thru this. Stay safe and hope you don't have to leave your home.

  23. We visited Queensland three times in the dry and cannot imagine your area flooded. We hope you and your family stay safe and your husband gets his transplant and all things turn for the better.

  24. My thoughts are with you and your community Adele. 12 months ago we lost our house to a bushfire, but watching the floods - on the TV as is the rest of the world - our hearts go out to you.....yes, a fire is devastatingly quick but these floods are so insidious and heart breaking!

  27. Oh, I've been thinking about you and all your neighbors in your part of the world. I pray waters recede soon so that everyone can dry out. Mother Nature is a fickle, fickle femme fatale sometimes. I hope you and your loved ones remain safe.

    In stitches,
    Teresa :o)
