I cut the sashing squares and a 2.5" strip of all of the fabrics as I was folding them. Began adding the sashing to the Lollypops this aft. I did have to remove a few of the circles as I was trimming the blocks as they were too close to the s.a. I need to add a few more in spots that are too bare.

  5. Thanks Mary! I've been giving some thought on how to tackle the sashing strips on Flower Pots and you've shown me the way to go. I'd like to work on it as I go along and not have to wait to make it once I've finished the applique.
Yours looks great with your pretty blocks. Did you sew the strips together randomly and then cut across the lengths to make the strips?

  7. I completed my LT quilt already and would like to make a comment about how to tackle the sashing.......I waited until all the trees (big and little) were done. Then I went through the remaining smallish scraps and cut out what 2 1/2' squares I could. If I had cut as I made the bigger blocks, I might have used a part of the fabric that I could have later used in a bigger block. Also leaving the blocks unsewn at the end allowed me to play with their placement. I could balance the values, colors, styles, etc. And I put my most favorite blocks in the middle so they would always be seen (if I made my bed!). Just thought this might be helpful to others.......

  8. I do have all the blocks completed, so did not add the sashing beforehand. I have a pile of 2.5" blocks and am sort of randomly placing them. I was not brave enough to sash as I completed blocks. I needed to see them all to mix up the dominant colors

  9. Your blocks look fabulous--love that background! I also sort and refold my fabrics between blocks otherwise they are an impossible mess.

  10. Thank you for posting the picture of your blocks, they are absolutely beautiful, I am also sashing mine as I go, I think it definitely is more motivating to work on the next one.
