I'd love suggestions

Ladies,
I have just completed my Flower Pots quilt top, which was done using invisible machine applique and reproduction fabrics on a linen background. I was wondering if I should leave it as is, or add a final border to this? Thoughts/comments would be so appreciated!

  4. Well it is hard to tell without being there and looking, so I would suggest that you think about the end use (how large you want/need it to be) and also consider that the binding (if contrasting enough) will serve as a frame, much like the border would. It's a lovely quilt as is, so I've no doubt whatever you decide will be lovely too! :)

  5. firstly, let me say your work is amazing. So beautiful. I am very envious. My inclination would be to add a border before the binding. But not in colour. I'd like to see you use the white background of the quilt in a fine border the same size as the checked border you already have, to frame the beautiful colours and stitching of the quilt. But, of course, it is entirely up to you. I have great confidence that whatever you choose will be stunning.

  6. Absolutely stunning! I vote for the border--like a frame for art.

  7. Truly already beautiful Janet! I also like it without the border but if you need/want it to be bigger I would vote for the plainer background fabric (so as not to detract from the main focus) with a brighter binding. What fabric are you using for the back? That might influence the binding choice.

  8. It's a beautiful quilt and the colours are wonderful. I think the border fabric matches in nicely but it does make a strong statement. If Jackie is quilting it, I bet she has some wonderful plan, wish I knew what it is.

  9. If the quilt has to go larger, what about a plain border that has great quilting finishing off with thwe squares again? Just thinking some more, lol.

  11. NO border, looks great as is. If you did want to make it larger use the same background and applique flowers, stars and birds around maybe on a vine. It will look great which ever way you choose.

  12. Your quilt is very beautiful. The border is the first thing that attracted my eyes. Than it moved to the lovely applique. I think you should choose a lighter border if you need it to be larger. Said that, do what makes you happy. :-)

  14. Spectacular! Beautiful, beautiful quilt. I see some good ideas on how to handle a border, but I vote with the no border crowd.
