Kim's Mariner's Compass Medallion quilt

Kim was invited to display two quilts for the New South Wales quilt and craft show in Sydney which started yesterday and runs through until Sunday. Her two quilts were part of the Masters exhibition which was to celebrate the thirty year anniversary of the guild's show.
This Mariners Compass quilt was done with reproduction fabrics. You can see Robyn's version of this quilt on the blog here. This will be released as a pattern but not for awhile.
I'm sorry about the quality of the photos, I only had my phone but I'll be returning tomorrow to take lots with a decent camera. I couldn't get far enough away to get a straight on shot of the quilt and the lighting was washing the right side out a bit. The hand quilting was lovely.
The second quilt was the Pandemonium which was lighter in real life than what I had imagined. It was truly glorious and such a treat to see.
photos shown are with Kim McLean's permission.

  4. Thank you Janet for posting the pics! I forgot my camera. The quilt show was lovely, lots of beautiful quilts and fun to see familiar faces. I have to go in again during the weekend as I didn't get to see all the quilts, I just ran out of time. Lots of lovely booths and the credit card got a bit of a workout! I wasn't even aware that it was part of the Master's 30 yrs Quilters Guild. I forgot to do the entries till the lovely lady at the Guild sent me a reminder email on the due date and then it was a mad scramble, glad I got them in though.
I saw someone's Roseville Album from outside the glass window as I was running past on the way home - late again. Would you like to post your photo here please? It looked stunning. I hope it won a ribbon. Kim McL

    1. Those just may be the two most beautiful quilts I've ever seen. They are totally alive! IMO, someone who can create art like these should be making millions of dollars!!!

    2. Hi Kim,
I hope you read this. I am busy making Pandemonium, but am already thinking (and worrying) about how it should be quilted once it is finished. Do you have any close up photos? I found one here, but it would be nice to have some more if you have some you can and want to share.
      Thanks,
      Sylvi

  6. I hope the pattern for the mariners compass doesn't take too long anymore. I have been in love with that quilt since the very first time I saw it, can't even remember where. And can we have more pics please? I can't see it in the flesh since I'm in Europe.
