Here is my first border of Kim's Trees of the Four Seasons. With this quilt, I'm starting with dessert first--the borders. Since I still haven't found a wall large enough to photograph my completed Roseville Album top (working on that), I decided I'd better downsize Trees so it would fit on an available wall. Of course that means working with some extra-tiny circles and leaves, but this border takes care of most of those. Working on the Kaffe Hydrangea Spots background is pure pleasure; I just love it.
Fabulous - what great work you do! Will have to keep polka dot background fabric in mind for next project. Oh wait - I already started one, but not McLean. Look forward to seeing more of this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great surprise! You did this quickly! I love the adorable koala. I guess I do need this pattern for all the charming animals. And I want that background fabric too. Why don't I already have it?
ReplyDeletePerfect!
I put some screws into the walls on the outside of my house. I can hang my quilts outside for photographs now and it is a nice neutral background. I'm sure the neighbors think I'm nuts. You can see what I mean here - http://summerlouise.blogspot.com/2012/09/cathedral-windows-hubble-1.html
ReplyDeleteSo darling, and I love your background fabric. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! Great background fabric and colour!!

Awesome, Marion ! Truly spectacular and so perfectly shaped figures. Thanks for sharing. I'm nearly finished prepping the middle. They are huge pieces and fast to do. ; )
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Nice work. I photograph my quilts outside my double car garage door. I hang them using a extension rod and 2 large nails that I put on top of the door. You cannot see the nails if you disguise them well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this idea! This might work for me if I can get my handy brother to help put in the nails.
DeleteBeautiful Marion! Love the fabrics you are using. I have the same problem with photographing the whole quilt. I don't have a convenient wall free and the only place I could do it is in the stairwell, but then I'll kill myself falling off the ladder. I've ended up spreading it on the floor to take a quick photo, but the ones you see in Liza's website are done in a photographer's studio where he has an enormous wall space!
ReplyDeleteAre you starting with the borders first or are you already done with the trees? You are fast! Kim
It really takes a professional photographer to do justice to your quilts, Kim, especially to get the lighting right.
DeleteYes, I'm starting with the borders first. Nobody is as fast as you are! I'm working on the right side border now and loving all the curvy shapes.
How small are ou making this quilt?
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't see your comment sooner. I had the pattern reduced to 75%, so it should end up about 68" square.
Deletegosh that background fabric just makes it glow--very pretty!
