2 years and counting...

Well, this one has been 2 years in the making. Getting to the final stretch... I've had quite a few distractions, but I keep coming back to this one. Committed to 100% hand quilting. I am thinking about doing a quilt/embroidery stitch combo along the borders of each block... in a pink pearl cotton. Thoughts?  Too much?

Also, to see my many distractions, please check out my new blog: Quilting.Sewing.Living. I have ventured into machine quilting... and also have posts on my sewing studio and my quilt buddy's amazing studio.  http://quiltsewlive.blogspot.com

  1. Think the pink makes the other colors pop. What are the other options for border colors? Beautiful piece, btw. Can't wait to get it for my Xmas present! ~ww

  3. Congratulations on your finish! Quilting decisions are something I'm not very good at, so I'll let someone else give you ideas on that. My one comment is that the Roseville is a pretty busy quilt, so I would try not to overpower your pretty blocks since they are the star of the show.

  4. Wow, it's beautiful, Theresa! I agree with Donna, I don't think you want to pull attention away from all that beautiful applique. Can't wait to see the finish!

  5. Hand quilting is wonderful and gives a soft natural dimension. I commend you for your preservance. Personally, I would have to do a sample of the pink pearl cotton stitch and then decide. It will be beautiful either way.

  6. Beautiful. Took me two years to appliqué mine too. I've been hand quilting mine since November 2012, looks like it will be this Nov when it's finished. It's going to be a Masterpiece

  7. Congratulations on this finish! I am quilting mine now as well. I see you made some changes to the pattern in the corners. You must like stitching those trees! It's nice to see the variation.

  8. Beautiful Theresa, love the last border too. Your fabric choices are fantastic. Can't give you my thoughts on quilting though. My brain doesn't go beyond the conclusion of the appliqué and putting it together. I have my quilts commercially machine quilted. I used to do hand quilting, just took too long! What next?

  10. Thanks so much to each and everyone of you for your comments. I think the consensus is probably really wise... don't add too much to detract from the design and glorious fabrcis that are already there! Hoping to finish this by holidays... not that football season is here, I will get some serious couch time and be able to work on this for many hours! Completed pics to come.
