13th block

This is one of the most complicated Lolly blocks. I think it will be done later today. Only 3 more to go after this one

First-time blogger here!

Hi All!

I'm so excited to get started on this project. I have chosen Kim's Hearts & Flowers quilt. I've gotten as far as choosing fabrics (Kaffe, of course!) Pat Sloan and Lina are my friends. Pat, of course, has made it impossible for me to put this off any longer! We talked about doing the Lolly quilt about a year ago....decided we were too busy. Then I found the Hearts and Flowers one....it looked easier for a starter. Pat decided to announce to the quilting world that she and I were doing this quilt together!!! So what did that mean? It meant GET BUSY....then she had to go and start tracing and cutting!!!! At least I have a glimmer of hope that I can catch up to her.....No one can catch up to Lina! Her work is beautiful and she will have two quilts done before I can even make my first block! Anyway, I love Kim's work, I love Kaffe's fabrics and I am totally enjoying this site. Thank you for letting me be a part of it.

Til next time! Monica

I completed my third block this aft----not pressed. I am not completely satisfied as I do not care for the leaves, but am thinking that in the overall project it will be O.K.

Seeing that there are two more Marys here so far, takes me back to school days when there were always five.

I have the next one ready to go and have a question. Do you build the flower or bird or vase before you put it on the background or do you place each component separately and stitch in place?

I have a 1/4" bias maker that I have had for quite awhile and never used and do not have directions. I can't get the proper width to cut the bias. I was planning to prep all the bias and think using the tool would be the easiest. I used the hera to do what I have used so far.

Another Flower Pots

Hi Everyone! I have been reading this blog for a while now. I recognize some of you from Joseph Coat's quilt along. I posted my progress on my Flower Pots through Flickr group. I caved in and decided to join this very inspiring blog.

My Flower Pots progress. I am partial to the freezer paper starch method appliqué. After cutting all my background fabrics, I like to finish all my appliqué pieces and glue them in place. I finished stitching the 2 center blocks and the right side panel. I'm also doing a "pieceliqué" on my circle borders when I need a break from stitching/appliquéing.

Happy Stitching,
Lina

Introduction

Hi all! I'm a brand spanking newbie here. I've loved Kaffe's fabrics and Kim's patterns for quite a while now and have finally decided to take the plunge. They're not doing me any good sitting on the website, so I have to make a purchase.
I've been doing applique for several years so that's not my problem. My dilemma is which pattern would be the best to start off with? If you had to pick, which one would you do first to get your feet wet?
My guild is having it's biennial show at the end of the month so I'll be able to pick up some fabrics then.
I'm getting excited!!

Me again

First thank you Ladies for having a giveaway in September it is very kind....

I am sure this blog will keep busy no matter what as Kim's designs are just wonderful, thank you Kim.

Now I hope you see the progress I am making on my quilt as the design wall is filling up. I also thought I show the prepared bag for the remaining blocks that need to be stitched, they are all sorted by block design and already cut and freezer paper applied ready for applique.

I also thought I show you the fabric layout we did in the class using our background fabrics so we know what it looks like and it makes the assembly of the blocks a lot easier.

cheers
Christine

I'm Really Good Starter...

Hi all.. the Roseville pattern is in the mail! I've been lurking for a while on your blog, and decided-what the heck! I'm going to jump in with two feet. I'm a big Kaffe fan, and am in the midst of an all Kaffe Double Wedding Ring. My daughter got married a couple of weeks ago on a lovely grey, rainy, Seattle August day. She wanted a traditional quilt with a modern twist..I wanted a challenge.

I'll report back soon. I think I'll even resucitate my dead blog. Ta ta for now... Kathy DB

N-E-W-S F-L-A-S-H!!!

----------------I interrupt this blog to bring you an important announcement--------------------
I am quite pleased to announce a drawing!!!  In support of the Glorious Applique blog and it’s contributors, Kim McLean, Liza Prior Lucy and Kathy Doughty have SEW generously offered to host a prize drawing for the month of September.  : )

For those who author a post during the month of September your name will be placed in the drawing.  The more you post, the more chances to win!!!  This does not include comments.  The drawing is for those who post only!
Kim, Liza and Kathy wish to keep our applique enthusiasm growing, and provide us with an extra incentive to STITCH!!!  One prize is being offered.  I don’t know what the prize may be...perhaps a bundle of fat quarters, some silk threads, or another wonderful delight to bring more joy to our stitching...?!
So/sew, get busy!!!  : )  Stitch.  Post.  Add photos.  Share.  Show us your work and tell us about it too!  YOU may be rewarded with a special September prize!!!  Good luck and happy September!!!
Piecefully, Pam
