Ann's Block #3

I finished block #3, and as you can see I changed the urn. Rather than leaving it lacy looking I used the space as an opportunity to show off a little more pretty fabric.

When I get to the urn in lower right hand side that's lacy looking I'll probably put fabric behind the woven bias strips so the blocks are balanced with a heavier look to them?

Please forgive my horrible design wall. I thought if I cropped the pics they may not click to enlarge? :)

  1. I love your background fabric....I thought it was dotted, but I see it's little circles. Very nice. And your applique, is great! I wish I had time to do some more by hand....but I have about 5 other projects in the queue for handwork! Sigh....someday ;-)

  14. Your fabric choices are amazing, I thought that you were using the polkadot fabric until I looked at the block close. I love your fabric choices, all of your fabrics just pop out, everything is very distinct, keep on stitching. You are going to have the quilt finished in no time.

  16. Thank you all for your sweet comments. I started the block that goes above the fruit basket and have sewn and removed a couple of pieces. The urn will be blue and since it will be sitting under the red house I thought my colors would be OK..but I keep second guessing myself! :)

  17. I love the look your fabric choices give to the blocks! And you have the confidence to change things which I don't yet. Your circles look wonderful. What method do you use...template, freezer paper, marking?

  19. Sally..I draw the circle on freezer paper, cut it out and iron the freezer paper to the top side of my circles. Then I pinch the turn under and sort of pleat it as I go around the circle and baste it down right through the freezer paper. I finesse the fabrics where needed as I stitch it down. It seems so much faster and easier than any other method I've tried.
