New experiences!
Bear with me as although I read a lot of them, I have never posted to (except for commenting) or written a blog and I am relatively new to hand applique. But I fell in love with Kim McLean's designs and just had to try at least one and then I was so happy to find this blog! I had a pack of Leslie Riley's fabrics so that's what I used for my Lollipop block but whichever design I attempt next will be with Kaffe's. I do a lot of free motion quilting and had fun with this one. Love seeing what everyone is doing. Thanks for letting me join in the fun as I learn.
Your quilt is SO pretty! You have a nice eye for color. I look forward to seeing what you do next. :)
ReplyDeleteWe must think alike! You chose a block so similar to the one I posted the other day. Your block is so cheery and fresh. You will love using the Kaffe fabrics too.
ReplyDeleteSally love your block, maybe that is what I'll do is just a block, I don't see room in my schedule for a whole quilt but just a block I can manage. Love that it is so different from everyone elses.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the colors in that line....and your quilting....mahvelous!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done, and I love your choice of colors and fabrics. Your applique' is beautiful, and now you know how to blog!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Sally!!! Look at you...appliqueing AND blogging!!! : )
ReplyDeleteYour Lollipop block is WONDERFUL!!! I LOVE your fussy cuts - those little trees with the tiny bird circles are precious. And, I LOVE the hearts too. VERY nice. Your colors so/sew work too!
OK, that fmq'ing is AwEsOmE!!! When I grow up I want to quilt like that!!! Thanks for the inspiration.
What are you working on next...?!?!?!
Awesome color choices, applique and free motion!!

Thank you for so many wonderfully encouraging comments! Not sure if I am supposed to respond to each person, but I so appreciate all your thoughts. I'm with you, Amanda, that I didn't think I had enough time to do a whole quilt so one block was a great compromise. I am in awe of all of you who are plunging into a whole quilt. Maybe I can work up to that.
ReplyDeleteYou did really good, I wouldn't have guessed you're a beginner, your applique is wonderful and the colours play great together. Your quilting really suits the block.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to reply individually but if a question is asked or you want to add on, just leave another comment just as you've done.
Welcome & Thanks for sharing your Gorgeous Block...Love the Fabrics.
ReplyDeletecheers
Fabulous idea turning one block into a small quilt. I love your quilting too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely wall hanging Sally, you did beautifully there! I adore the colour palette you've chosen - a very happy piece, I bet you smile everytime you see it! Kim McL
ReplyDeleteI think if you just take a block at a time, you could do a whole quilt. I think that every block is going to be like a separate adventure. No hurry to finish a block, what you have done so far is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful echo machine quilting!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful - gorgeous colourways.
ReplyDeleteAlso love the quilting.
your 'one block' is super duper fabulous! Can't wait to see more!
