My Star and Sprigs

I have started this wonderful quilt after seeing it in this blog. I am so inspired that I decided to appliqué after a long hiatus.  Kim's pattern is really easy to follow and the many tips on this blog make it so easy to start. What a great community.  Thanks.

  5. Love it, love it, love it...I ordered the pattern, but was trying to wait to start it until I finished a few things. But now your beautiful blocks are tempting me!! I'm still on the fence about whether to do brights or repro...

    In stitches,

  6. A newbie to hand applique lurker here -- I am so glad to see someone do this one. Roseville is a little beyond me right now but I have been eyeing this pattern as a KML starter. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. This one maybe in my Christmas stocking yet!

P.S. Are you doing it by hand or by machine?

  7. Your colors are beautiful. And you are definitely ahead of me. I just made some stems yesterday and I'm going to work on leaf fabric tonight so I love seeing yours as inspiration! I am off to a wedding this weekend and as the "rider" I think I can do some sewing on the way.

  12. I really like your blocks, I have added the pattern to my list of quilts to make also. I was wondering what brown fabric you used for your stems. Thank you so much for sharing, I am sure you have inspired even more people to make their own stars and sprigs now through your beautiful blocks.

  14. Charming! And isn't it fun? Are you going to do all the Sprigs before you do the stars?

  16. Thank you everyone for the kind comments. I am so glad I joined this group.
I am doing my appliqué by hand. Block 1 I used a variety of techniques and decided that the easiest for me would be needle turn. I am using straw needles, 1/2 inch pins, crayola washable markers and a variety of threads. Most are cotton; but I also have some silk threads. I am liking the way that the stitches show up sometimes with the thread I use. Because of the many colors on the fabric it is hard to choose one thread that looks "invisible" all around the appliqué. I will start on the stars soon. Just to see how that goes. Thanks again.
