I have falling in love with this quilt again

Thank you Kim for the class some years ago, I am so very pleased with my top and now only have to do the two borders, this is going to be my all time favourite quilt.
I love it.

Block 7

Here's my block 7 of Kims Lollipops.
It's the first one with some pink in it, as Kim suggested. And I made some more sashings.
Blocks 8 and 9 are already prepped. Will start prepping the border blocks soon.

On another note : is someone going to the 'Festival of Quilts' in Birmingham UK by any chance? I'm going. Maybe we could meet up?

Centre panel

I thought you might like to see the central panel of the Roseville quilt that I have been working on for some time.

I am using the glue and machine applique method which I love - it takes a long time to do all the prep but tends to be really accurate in the end. Even all the little bits in the bottom right corner were made this way. Some of the small circles are also hand appliqued.  Most of the fabrics are Kaffe Fassett but I have added a few batiks and others from my stash.  I am using a washable fusible backing as the templates which will wash out completely at the end of the project.

I'm back on track

Another four down and that leaves one left and then I can play with the borders, excitement! I did have a little break from these but now I'm ready to play again.

These two are the weird ones, only a mother could love them, since I made them, that would be me.

I've been working on these for a few months now.  Slowly but surely I am making progress.  This is my first large applique project.

My most recent block is this blue and purple one.  My mother-in-law passed two weeks ago and she loved these colors, so I thought of her as I made this one.

Summer @ Summer's Snippets

Hello!

Hello everyone! I am excited to join this blog as I have been lurking and admiring everybody's work for quite awhile now. These are my first four blocks from the Flower Garden quilt. I am working on number five now and really hope I will be posting a photo of it this weekend. Since starting this quilt my collection of bright fabrics has truly 'blossomed.' Terrible pun - so sorry. Anyway, glad I could join and can't wait to show off some more blocks.

My progress...

I have been spending some time stitching my block. It is not finished yet, but here is as far as I have got:

I am having second thoughts about my vase. It looks unbalanced to me. I am not sure whether to change the main fabric or just the applique?? (I have some photos of possible choices on my blog)

The stem fabric I am using is a dark, chocolate brown with tiny, mint green spots and from Lecien.
The 2 favourite fabrics I mentioned in my last post are these:

They are both Phillip Jacobs fabrics. I plan to have the bird appear a few times on my quilt.
I am also choosing from lots of Kaffe Fassett, Brandon Mably and  other Phillip Jacobs fabrics as well as some Liberty Marylebone collection fabrics from Glorious Colour.
My background fabric is Kaffe Fassett's Water Spots.

Is anyone else still working on their Roseville Album??  Anyone else about to start??

I've finally started!

I have started my first block for my Roseville Album quilt.

I started by making yards and yards of 1/4 bias stems and about 50 circles.


I have chosen 2 or 3 favourite fabrics on which to base all my quilt's colours. At the moment I am a bit afraid that when I lift the freezer paper my block will look like an explosion in a paint factory!!! There is lots of colour there! So this block may be version 1.0! lol

I have used reverse applique on the vase and I plan to reverse applique on 2 of the flowers.

I plan to have more to show later in the week.

Lollipops, Lollipops, Lollipops is finished

Dear Friends,

Today I finished my journey with the lollipop quilt, I wonder what song I'm going to be singing next. I was going to add another set of squares around the entire quilt but after I laid it out, I did not think it was needed. My quilts finished 115 in.².

Thank you for all of your help, support and advice through this journey. I have loved working on this quilt as I have enjoyed watching you make your beautiful quilts. Your quilts have inspired me so much, I cannot wait to choose what I'm going to do next and continue on the journey.

Important news about blog membership

I've been brainstorming to figure out a way to get around the maximum 100 authors that blogger allows so that we can expand our number of contributors (my brain hurts, lol) I'm pretty sure I have it figured out so we can get through a back door. Are you excited yet??

Can you believe the blog has been going for just over a year?  I need to reduce the membership by one in order to activate my cunning plan. At first I thought I'd go through the list and remove anyone who hasn't posted but I'm reluctant to  to do that, what do you think? I may have to do this unless I can get one member who hasn't posted to donate their spot to me. Can you email me if you wish to be generous enough to be removed? My address is below and also on the side bar.

Princess Feather

I entered my Princess Feather in the Kaleidoscope 0f quilts show in Sylvania Ohio, that had over 200 quilts entered. The show was held July 15-16. I won a blue ribbon and a Judges Choice award! I got a lot of nice comments on the quilt and especially the choice of fabrics. This type of quilt was new to a lot of people. We may see more in the future..I gave the pattern info and Glorious Color web site info to several people that asked!

I will try sending another picture of the lollipop quilt, not sure why the other one didn't go through. Enjoy the warm summer day, off to work on that border now.

I now have all 12 of my lollipop blocks finished and put together. I enlarged my squares a little bit and made the squares in between 3 inches instead of 2 inches. Now I just have to work on the border. It already measures about 103 in.². I am going to make 48 little squares to go around the border. Just going to put a circle in each square as someone did previously. After I add that border , it will finish 121 in.² .

Another Hearts and Flowers

I'd like to show you a version of Hearts and Flowers made by my non-blogging friend Mary Jo Deysach. The wall-hanging was made as a wedding gift for niece Erica and her new husband.



Mary Jo made it smaller than Kim's pattern, obviously, by leaving out some borders. She added the wedding date and the couple's initials very cleverly. She also added some birds from my Flower Pots pattern to make it an even more personal gift. What a lucky couple!

I completed this block about a week ago and was just needed washing, starching and ironing.

I am adding my own touches and whimsey. Loving the journey.

I have already started a big block and another one this size.

At a Turtle's Pace?

By now Roseville Album quilts have been finished down to the binding, but truly I am still plugging away and enjoying every stitch. On the left is the last of my four corner blocks, completed months ago. On the right is my hot-off-the-ironing board squirrel panel along with the two corner blocks which will go above and below it in the finished quilt top. My excuse: in between finishing the corner block and the panel I have taken time to make a quilt for charity and a start-to-finish hand appliqued and hand quilted baby quilt for Adam, my newest grandson. Though I happily received news that yet another grandson is arriving in December, I vow to finish the right hand panel before I indulge in the next baby quilt. Perhaps the bright side of moving along at a slow but steady pace is learning some new tips about perfecting my stitching techniques, and of course it means I can keep adding to my fabric stash as new and irresistible patterns come along.

Sprigs blocks...well, half of them

I love having discovered and doing hand applique. But falling in love with one of Kim's bigger patterns means it is taking me a long while. So here is what I've done so far even though it is just half the applique blocks and not a pieced top yet, just to prove that I really am working on it! I've used both Kaffe's fabrics and batiks. I love fall colors so that's my focus. Hope I will be a little faster doing the rest of the quilt, but it was nice just seeing the blocks up on the design wall. (The last two blocks here are still in process.)

The last few weeks i have been busy cutting and drawing hundreds of squares for the sashings, since i will be handsewing them.
Put them all in a paper bag so to take them randomly out for sewing.















After sewing a couple of rows i tried it out between the blocks, and guess what : i like it a lot. And i am sure it will even get better.
I'm thinking red cornerstones, same as the background from the blocks.

The interim score till today

Several days ago I made this picture, the Hearts and Flower quilt top, till so far.
It is hanging on my clothesline outside in the sun. Unfortunately is was a bit windy.
But you have a nice view how it looks like today.
Still 2 more borders to go. But I'm still enjoying it.

A few more flowers in the garden

Just a few flowers....they were done over the past couple of months, but I was too lazy to post them here, and then out of sight/out of mind!

I've done my part now--let's see what you all have been working on please.  (I could use a little inspiration--I'm trying to finish a (20+ year old!) UFO today--ICK!)

I've traced my first block for back basting! I'm going to do the bowl of fruit but I'm stumped on what fabric to use for the bowl. Today's mission: raid my stash.
