At a Turtle's Pace?
By now Roseville Album quilts have been finished down to the binding, but truly I am still plugging away and enjoying every stitch. On the left is the last of my four corner blocks, completed months ago. On the right is my hot-off-the-ironing board squirrel panel along with the two corner blocks which will go above and below it in the finished quilt top. My excuse: in between finishing the corner block and the panel I have taken time to make a quilt for charity and a start-to-finish hand appliqued and hand quilted baby quilt for Adam, my newest grandson. Though I happily received news that yet another grandson is arriving in December, I vow to finish the right hand panel before I indulge in the next baby quilt. Perhaps the bright side of moving along at a slow but steady pace is learning some new tips about perfecting my stitching techniques, and of course it means I can keep adding to my fabric stash as new and irresistible patterns come along.

Very pretty, Marion! Love those softer colors and they look lovely on the background you picked. It's nice to know other people are working along out there. I agree that many of us have other projects that intervene and it's always nice to have the hand work to come back to.
ReplyDeleteMarion took the words I wanted to say! Your color palette is so pretty, and your blocks are just lovely!
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous!! Don't feel too bad, I'm still auditioning fabrics for my first block!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's wonderful to see the squirrel panel, which took so long, in all its glory. Definitely worth the wait. I love all of it but those squirrel tails are especially dramatic. And the perfect circles are inspiring. How many were there? A ridiculous number I know. And I am sure that every single one that Kim proposed is there!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Marion, especially love the fussy cutting of the fan fabric! Keep it up!! Kim McL
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning Marion! I adore the colors/fabrics you're using.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a race..this is supposed to be fun right? ;)
I haven't even started my final borders. I got side tracked a bit.
Thanks to all for your encouraging comments. I have a good start on the right panel now and am looking forward to choosing fabrics for the 16 birds. And Ann, I am looking forward to seeing your final borders at some point.
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
