Still Beaming

It took four years to completely finish my Roseville Album, but what a thrill it was to receive the ribbon for Best of Show at The Berrien Towne and Country Quilt Guild quilt show today.  Hanging under the big purple ribbon is a second ribbon for Honorable Mention in the Bed Quilt category.

One has to drive at least 90 minutes to find Kaffe Fassett fabrics in this part of the Midwest, but my quilt drew so many good questions about the fabric and the designer that I am betting some of the people who attended the show are on line right now seeking patterns and fabric.  Donna Kooistra, an AQS certified quilt appraiser, so admires the fabrics, and she loved the quilting, done by Heather Broehm.  Thank you, Kim, for your beautiful pattern, and thanks to all of you GA subscribers who have been unfailing in your encouragement along the way.

  1. Congratulations Marion! Well done, loved your quilt, it is absolutely gorgeous. And I love your pink corners too. You should be beaming for a long long time with that purple ribbon hanging on the quilt! I enjoy designing quilts and making them, it is the one constant joy day after day and even more joy in finding that others do too, K

    1. Slow as I was getting to the finish line, it was a pleasure all the way, and now I'm almost finished hand quilting my version of Trees! I can't keep up with all your new patterns, but I own them all and have enough fabric to keep me stitching for years to come. Each new one is such a joyful surprise. I hope our paths cross some day!

  10. Congrats on Best of Show. The BT&CG quilt show has an excellent reputation and very talented members. Wish I could have attended. Recently, I have been collecting Kaffe's colorful fabrics for two quilt projects one of which is a Kim Mclean pattern. Your quilt is beautiful.

  14. Huge congratulations - first on getting it finished, and then on winning Best of Show. Well Done. I've admired Kim's designs for a few years now, but know they are a huge undertaking so haven't started anything yet. You certainly chose one of the more complex designs, but it looks great and I'm sure you love it too.
