Not Quite Done...

Not quite done yet. I machine quilted in the ditch on the sashing to keep the panels squared. I outline quilted the appliquéd pieces with thicker thread using YLI Jeans Stitch variegated thread that I have on hand. Binding is done. Still trying to decide how to quilt the rest of the open space.

Close up of my hand quilting with variegated thread...

  9. I would suggest a cross-hatching about 1-inch apart as you want to highlight your fabrics and design, not the quilting.

  14. Your quilt is gorgeous!!! You must be thrilled with how it turned out?
I really like the quilting you've done so far..if you want more in the background..may I suggest a diagonal line in the outer border and a clamshell scallop in the main body of the quilt? :)

  15. Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments!

Ann and Bertie, I was thinking the same thing, diagonal and cross-hatching.

Ann, I love the clamshell idea. How would you place the clamshell scallop? facing in, out or up? thanks in advance!

  16. I guess you could place the scallops any way you want? I think my preference would be to have the scallops pointing downward which is the most traditional? I like that as a background because it can be done as a continuous design..less knots and can be any size? :)
