My fourth block (not ironed) just needs three more circles to be complete. I am not certain if the colors of the leaves works. Maybe tried to put too many different ones in the block. Those larger leaves were quite time consuming.
If Gay, Rosemary, and Brenda want to complete their "quota" by November, you might consider passing on this block.
I am considering either the house block panel or fruit compote block. Seeing Brenda's "San Antonio"pear has me wondering what a Wisconsin pear should look like.

  1. Mary I think your block is beautiful. The colors are spaced nicely around the circle, are balanced, and don't detract from the bird in the center. Is it that they aren't playing nicely with the other blocks? On it's own it's just wonderful. I'd say continue on with it. Once you have more blocks done it will look even better? :)

  2. I really like the block, though I'm glad to know in advance that it's time consuming. Those "leaves" look like little hands, don't they? I think Ann is right; the colors will work in well with other blocks as you complete them.

  4. Mary, as always, your work is superb! What great fabric choices! About that pear, perhaps a little cheddar cheese would suit your Wisconsin
    taste.
    You're the best!

  5. I love it Mary, I think when we've worked with a block for awhile, we start to doubt our choices. No need to in your case, it looks great to me.

  6. Love your block Mary, the colours are well balanced, wouldn't change a thing. This block and the cactus flowers were the fiddliest to do, I did find that too. Keep at it - you're doing great! kim McL

  7. Your block is lovely Mary. I have just taken a lot of time picking fabrics for this block, it's going to take me a long time to stitch too isn't it, oh well, it is a lovely block!

  8. Mary, I love your block. It's so amazing how everyone's fabrics are so beautiful, no matter what fabric is chosen. I will be waiting on my porch today for my fabric, the sad thing is is that we leave first thing in the morning for a two week vacation, I will just be able to kind of look at my fabric and then I will have to leave town.

  9. I love your block and color choices, Mary. There's a richness to them. And I too am glad to know how time consuming this one is. Do you pick all your fabrics before you start? I am sort of a "process person" and many times change my mind mid-stream.

  10. Love your block. Your fabric choices make the block sparkle. I'll take your advise and not attempt this one before November. Trying really hard to get as much done as I can before heading back to Grand Rapids where free time is hard to come by.
