A Little Bit Larger Lollipops
I added my squares around by blocks, so much beautiful color. I did make a couple of changes, not to the pattern but to the size. I know the quilt pattern finishes 94 x 94 but I wanted to make it larger for a king size bed. I laid out the pattern on a 21 inch background square instead of 18 inch background square, my little squares I cut 3 1/2 inches instead of 2 1/2 inches. I had a lot of fun cutting out the squares, even fussy cut some of them. I think my finished quilt will now finish somewhere around 120 x 120 and I did not have to change the pattern at all. Can't wait to get started on block number three.
Happy stitching,
Rosemary

Hi Rosemary, I love your blocks - so colorful. I like your tip for enlarging the block, I might just do that myself.
ReplyDeleteThe squares look great, good idea!
ReplyDeleteRosemary, you're the best! What wonderful, gorgeous blocks!

Positively rockin' blocks, Rosemary!!! They make me smile. ; ) What a wonderful idea for enlarging the overall quilt without having to enlarge the design. Thanks for sharing. And, I'm sorry you don't have a blog...but, I am grateful you are posting here!!!
ReplyDeleteVery clever Rosemary. The larger background looks original..the pieces fill up the space nicely.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so pretty with the squares added. More color! :)
I like the way the background is a little larger than the applique... it lets you enjoy the colors of the applique better and yet see the colors of the squares easier. great idea
ReplyDeleteIt's such fun to see some lollipops surrounded by the blocks. Fabric choices in the blocks could really change the way the quilt looks overall. Yours are so very cheerful, a great complement to the applique! I can imagine someone choosing to make the blocks all one color perhaps, still in a variety of fabrics, to get still a different look. Isn't it great to see how many possibilities there are?
ReplyDeleteRosemary, your blocks look great.
ReplyDeleteI like large quilts also. The last quilt I made goes to the floor, love it.
Instead of cutting squares I sew strips together and recut into the size and then sew the cut strips together.
The squares really set off the blocks. Great work.
ReplyDeleteDarling those are fabulous! I love the colors and the design layout. You might have inspired me to take up applique ...
ReplyDeleteHugs & stitches,
Jennifer
Wonderful, Rosemary. Will you be "lollypoping" in Shipshe?
ReplyDeleteWow looks wonderful Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteI really love your blocks, Rosemary! The colours and fussy cutting are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see - I'm doing ONE block at present and we'll see how it goes. Are you finding the fussy cutting a little challenging - I am, but really enjoy the outcome!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Lurline♥
The blocks look fantastic, gee the quilt is going to be a biggie.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look great. This is what is so great about this blog site, everyone is doing the same thing yet all so different. Have fun and I will keep watching for more.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Blocks..Love the Fabrics around them.

Well done Rosemary, when you get to the borders, you can also adjust the little blocks - its quite easy to do. Love the way it is looking now. Great fabric choices! Kim McL
