That darn parrot.......................

Well, all my birds are on, and now I simply need to make, and sew on, 59 (FIFTY NINE) circles of various sizes. Ahem. I actually love circles, and I guess it's a good thing, huh? I had the worst time with choosing fabrics for my parrot. I did him over completely four times, and finally settled on this combination. I'm not sure I am completely satisfied, but he is certainly staying at this point.............and here I thought he'd be the easiest of all.........go figure.

I'm always over eager to trim down the block to it's final size, because I love getting the raw edges off, and the block always seems so much fuller. I will NOT do it until all dots are on, a lesson I learned the hard way.

I just ordered 14 more yards of Philip Jacobs fabric........everytime I say I don't need anymore, one of you evil geniuses shows your favorite, and (of course) it's one I don't have, and I love it, and you can guess the rest. It's quitting time in my sewing room for this Sunday. Hope you had a good one.  Michele B.

  1. Oh my! Just beautiful Michele. All of your birds and the kitty look wonderful. It's a beautiful panel.

I know what you mean about the fabrics. Sometimes they look very different in the little swatch you see online. When you see them in a block they look much better..and they are like paints to an artist. We must have paint! :)

  3. Michelle, the parrot and all the other birds are great. This fabric looks wonderful on your background, I really like it. I have been out buying more fabric for the quilt also, I just needed another red or two, and a yellow, and maybe a couple greens, then there was this purple, and they happened to have an older one or two out of print...

Well worth the changes you made. It's gorgeous.
All of the birds are very unique with their beautiful plumage. The kitty is my favorite though. Too cute. Oh, and your tree and stems,
    perfection.

  11. Michele, your panel is fantabulous!! Love your parrot, he is very handsome indeed. He is showing off to all the other birds on the lower branches. Your fussy cutting work is marvellous, love them all. I love the spotty sleeping kitty down below. Our old cat used to sleep under the tree, with all the birds chattering on the branches making fun at him because he is too old to chase them off. I used to smile at all these goings on. Kim McL

  12. It's lovely! And, your darn parrot is beautiful! Your little birds are really cute--you've got some great fussy cuts! I am slowly stitching away on my panel still (but I believe my panel had the same effect on me as yours did you--I recently ordered a big bunch of Philip Jacobs fabric too!)

  16. Beautiful, Michele! Only 59 circles? NO PROBLEM! I did a poinsettia quilt with no less than 329 circles! And, I miscounted, and ended up with 330! Maybe I'll use that extra one on this quilt...
