This blog is dedicated to applique. Glorious applique!!! The focus here will be hand applique, but there is room for machine applique too. Kim McLean is the designer whose patterns and quilts we will be working on together. Are you ready?! Let's SEW!!!
Snowbound with 6" of new snow and now (ugh) sleet. Another 10-15" of snow to follow. Winter Wonderland here. I made lentil soup and spent the day watching old movies and doing applique. Bliss.
Part of me is jealous cause you get to stay home and quilt. But then again, can't handle the cold weather, blood to thin being a florida native! Love your work
These are so cute, Liza. Are your big blocks done yet? I don't recognize that pink and yellow fabric--do you know what it is? Isn't this storm wild? (I live in Princeton.) We were let out of work at 3:00 and I scooted home to baste a baby quilt. Do you have the thunder and lightning too? It's wild. I think I'll get to stay home and sew tomorrow too. Silver lining...
Leland, do you mean the striped pink and yellow? It was cut from one of the old Arts and Crafts fabrics that Kaffe did. It is called Winding Floral. Yes, we got lightning, thunder, and snow all at once. Never have seen that before. Wild night.
What fun little blocks! Great attention to the fussy cuts is paying off in the look of your quilt. It seems like this has been an awfully snowy Winter this year? We got thunder during a snow storm recently too. It was the first time I remember that happening.
Hasn't this weather been a challenge?! Nothing like snow, sleet, rain, thunder, lightning, and MORE snow all in the course of a day...?! I do hope locusts won't be next!
Your blocks are looking fun and delicious, Liza. What an excellent use of a snowy day. ; )
Wow! Your Lolly blocks are adorable, Liza. I haven't seen them before and I must try and copy the design. I also like your background fabric, I am on Manitoulin Island in Ontario Canada. Today we had a beautiful sunny day no snow falls and the temp was moderate at -7 deg Celsius. Enjoyed the day staying in side and catching up on my interests.... Medora
I am new to applique. I want to applique a irregular ~ 5' x 12" object but add some dimension under it, without puckering or distorting the fabric, as happened with my first attempt. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks
Love the colours of the wee ones Liza. Great fussy cutting!
ReplyDeleteWe're having the hot days, have lived with the air con for the last few days! Kim McL
