This blog is dedicated to applique. Glorious applique!!! The focus here will be hand applique, but there is room for machine applique too. Kim McLean is the designer whose patterns and quilts we will be working on together. Are you ready?! Let's SEW!!!
just beautiful Love the elephant!!!! ok will this be ready so Santa can put it under the tree this year????? of course mine will be all fall colors :) love the seasonal effect though ANOTHER BEAUTY KIM! Kathie
Oh wow, wow, wow! Another absolute beauty from Kim. I cannot wait!!! Oooh and look at all those seasonal leaves to applique, my fingers are itching to get stitching already! xo
Oh wow! This just takes my breath away. Now I won't have to put away my Kaffe stash as I finish Roseville Album. My mouth waters over the coloring and those fabulous borders. What an exciting beginning for the new year. THANK YOU, KIM!
The only decision I have made so far is to use Aboriginal Dots in silver for the background for mine. Kim used Spots in Hydrangea. What will you all use?
No fair, Liza. You have probably seen the quilt in person. One thing I love about the quilt is its warm "glow" from that background color, but I'll make my decision when I get pattern in hand. I am loving Kim's new animals, especially a koala:-) Maybe as a Michigander, I will need a wolverine.
I have been so upset about the shootings this morning that I decided to cancel my evening plans and distract myself looking at beautiful creative things in the F-ART links I have collected. I have often visited yours. I love applique, but you are far more patient and ambitious than I am! Thank you! Ellen, Hamilton Ontario investmeinmymotley.wordpress.com
I haven't seen the quilt in person. Kim lives in Australia and I am in the US. We work together thought the magic of the internet. I am dazzled by her work the same way you all are, by seeing the images on my computer screen. I hope we will have this pattern ready to sell by the end of January. Stay tuned.
Ahh, thank you Liza for posting the photo of the quilt! Glad that you like the Trees Of The Four Seasons, I really enjoyed making it. I wanted to use the lighter colour prints that I have in my stash baskets. I've always wanted to do a quilt on a pink background. When I showed the quilt to my husband, he said " do you realise that half the colours are very light? A bit weird isn't it" well, at least he looked at it! Poor guy, he sees me surrounded by needles, threads and various sewing equipment on the couch. I watch the TV whilst sewing. No wonder I can't follow the story. Would anybody like me to walk you through making this quilt later on?
A gorgeous design.....love, love, love the borders and design itself. But I would have trouble with the very light fabrics and then darks only in one quadrant. I think I could do it by starting lights in the center and doing the seasons darker colors going out concentriccally.....I'm too traditional, perhaps. But a spectacular design.
Wow, Another beautiful pattern. Just love it.

Not such a hard choice for backgrounds, I love many of the spots and aboriginal dots. I've used the grey before and love it.
