After four years. . .

I am ready to add yet another completed Roseville Album to our blog.  Although the quilt has been finished for many months now, I am just now finding a way to photograph it.  This quilt marks my journey through breast cancer surgery and recovery; its four "pink" corner blocks were my way of remembering that time in my life.  Having Kim's beautiful pattern to applique has been soothing and rewarding.  It is, to date, the most ambitious project I have attempted, but now it won't be the last.

"TREE"-mendous Fun!

Here is my first border of Kim's Trees of the Four Seasons.  With this quilt, I'm starting with dessert first--the borders.  Since I still haven't found a wall large enough to photograph my completed Roseville Album top (working on that), I decided I'd better downsize Trees so it would fit on an available wall.  Of course that means working with some extra-tiny circles and leaves, but this border takes care of most of those.  Working on the Kaffe Hydrangea Spots background is pure pleasure; I just love it.  

Springing Basket Blocks

Two seasons have come and gone since my last post, but I have been working away at Roseville along with some other projects.  You can see I still have two gaps before the center section will be finished, but everything else is done except the borders.  it gave me an unexpected thrill to see these blocks again on the design wall.

Here are close ups of some of the blocks so you can see the fabric choices a little better.  I hope some of them illustrate Kim's tutorial on finding just the right bits for leaves and vases.

A few months hence, perhaps I will have time to begin some of the Pandemonium blocks.  I LOVE the new pattern and am already wearing it out with study.

One Year Later. . .

and I am still working away at the Roseville Album. Some months ago I finished the 4th corner block,

and began working on the right side panel. For some reason it went faster than the squirrel "panel," and it was great fun to work on.

Now I have begun the nine blocks for the center section. They go together much faster than the large panels, of course, so perhaps it won't be yet another year before I have a finish! Meanwhile I am loving all the inspiration from fellow GA bloggers around the globe and hoping I live long enough to make more Kim McLean quilts. I am quite spoiled for any other designs.

At a Turtle's Pace?

By now Roseville Album quilts have been finished down to the binding, but truly I am still plugging away and enjoying every stitch. On the left is the last of my four corner blocks, completed months ago. On the right is my hot-off-the-ironing board squirrel panel along with the two corner blocks which will go above and below it in the finished quilt top. My excuse: in between finishing the corner block and the panel I have taken time to make a quilt for charity and a start-to-finish hand appliqued and hand quilted baby quilt for Adam, my newest grandson. Though I happily received news that yet another grandson is arriving in December, I vow to finish the right hand panel before I indulge in the next baby quilt. Perhaps the bright side of moving along at a slow but steady pace is learning some new tips about perfecting my stitching techniques, and of course it means I can keep adding to my fabric stash as new and irresistible patterns come along.
