True confession.  What would you do-----if you were trimming the s.a. on the last miter using a ruler and cutter and CUT an uneven triangle out of the border!!!  I usually use a scissors and trim one side of the seam at a time.  This time I decided to use the ruler so the s.a. would be even as the background is light and the s.a. will shadow through.  It has been a week since the dastardly deed was done.  I cut off the end of the border and re-mitered it, but I have not felt like adding the corner applique as yet.

  1. Fear of doing what you did often paralyzes me for weeks at the end of a project! My profound sympathies.

  2. I can understand why you won't want to finish the corner. It is very frustrating when you have so much good work only to make a mistake like this so near the end. I have done similar things with my projects. I want to just curl up and cry and I am discourage from finishing up. But, I am here to encourage you to get back up and finish the corner. I think that you will be surprised at how well the applique will cover the seams. A finished quilt is such a good feeling of accomplishment. BTW I would love to see a picture of how you fix the miter..is sound like something I would do and I would like to see your solution...Keep on appliqueing!!

  3. Oh dear Mary, is the corner OK now? Take a deep breath and keep going.
I had a similar story, I was trimming of the edge of the quilt after applying the binding, it was late at night and I didn't check if any of the quilt was under it. Sure enough, I cut through the middle of the quilt with the cutter. I ended up throwing the quilt away, it was pretty up salvageable. But I did learn a lesson though! K
