PANDEMONIUM
Hello all. I'm so happy to be able to post now.  Here's my biggest applique achievement so far. I started it a few months after it was published. First, I thought "No way!", but my husband told me I simply had to make it as it is so fabulously crazy. Crazy in a fun and wonderful way! The blocks took approx. 1 year to finish. Then I had a break for a few months, but finally got it all put together last spring. I entered "Pandy" at a local quilt show in Stafford/Houston in September. It won "Best of Show", "1st Prize" and "Best Workmanship". The quilt was too big for the wall and the organizers folded the top over so it wouldn't lay on the floor, hence top rows not showing. I didn't leave them out! LOL The detail photos are not necessarily in their right places as they were not yet sewn together at that point.
I saw Kim's original Pandemonium at the Houston Quilt Festival in October. It was awesome! People who saw it were floored in amazement. ;)   I'm so grateful for Kim's patterns and for my husband who pushed me to make this one.
I'm curious who else has made, or is making this quilt?
Happy Holidays!

  4. Aha! I'm thrilled that you have joined the group. Your exquisite work will inspire us all. I know a local friend who is making Pandemonium, but I, too, would like to know if others are making it. Now let's see your other Kim creations!

  6. OMGoodness, it is beautiful. How exciting to win best of show and best workmanship. I have recently fallen in love with Kim's quilts and Kaffe's fabrics. I have purchased Flower Pots pattern and need to practice my needleturn skills. Glad you picked up after your break and finished it. Congratulations on your awards as they are well deserved.

  8. I found this quilt to represent pure joy! I began it when it first came out and love getting a chance to work on it. It is how I motivate and reward myself....if I do this....then I can work on pandemonium etc. however I MUST put it first this year...to gorgeous and smile inducing to let it sit any longer!!!

  11. Thank you for liking my "Pandy". It will have the best showcase spot in my new house in three months.
Joanne712, No, I did not quilt it myself. Even if I had a long arm machine, I wouldn't have dared to. It really requires a professional who knows how to quilt applique quilts. Or, hand quilting. The experienced long armer spent over 60 hours on it. It is very well done and even so it is nice and flat.

  12. WOW Sylvi!!! glad you can now post your quilts! Your Pandy is fantastic and you deserve all the ribbons - love to see your other quilts. I have my quilts quilted professionally, otherwise there will be no new quilts! I'm glad that you saw my quilts at the Houston show, they are travellling to other IQA quilt venues in 2015, I won't be seeing my quilts back till August next year, which is nice for the quilts to travel. did you get the book too? that books has so many beautiful quilts in it.
Have a great Xmas and New Year to you and everyone following this blog, may you do a lot of stiching! Cheers, Kim

    1. Yes, Janet gave me my best Christmas present! I'm very happy about it. You must be missing your quilts. I don't think I would let mine leave for that long! Please elaborate about the book? Is it a book with all the IQA quilts in it or a book of yours? I'm hearing from Liza that I had better sharpen my needles and get ready for your new pattern. I'm stitching the last border on Trees for the 4 Seasons right now. I work better to deadlines. ;) Please come to Quilt Market/Festival in 2015. You have many many followers in Houston and the rest of the world who come to that show, and we would all love to hear how you find your inspirations for your wonderful quilts. I wish you a Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2015. Ta ta, Sylvi

    2. Sylvi, it's the IQA book with lots of tradional quilts in it, it is fabulous! I don't have any book in the scenario, I havent the time to do one of those! Yes, there is one design coming up, it is with
Liza at the moment, she will be working on it after the holidays. It is a rather fun one and portable too, more like the idea or the portability of the Lollypop one, I think it will be an enjoyable one to do. Well, I had fun doing it! I love travelling to the U.S., it is a very long journey though and going against the time is not the best thing to do! The first part to LA is the easy part, it is the second trip in continental US is the hard one! Once arrived it's great. I will try! K

    1. Thank you. Yes, Ian is one of a kind. He loves all things Kaffe Fassett and Kim's applique patterns. We will hang them as art on our walls as we can never agree on paintings we like, but we do agree on quilts! :)

  15. I am in applique envy! I have to practice a lot more before I feel ready to tackle any of Kim's designs. I do have this pattern and some Kaffe fabrics that I pull out and ponder every so often.
