Made the deadline !!!

Well I made the May 20th deadline and my AQS Des Moines entry is at the post office with today's date stamped on it. I won't know if the quilt is accepted until July 20th. I'm going back and adding more hand quilting. Probably will add another line around or echo each block to fill in some of the bigger areas and may add swirling line on outside border. My thinking is when something is so heavily appliqued there needs to be just as much quilting to give it balance. I could leave it as it is but I think it will do better in competition with the extra hand quilting.
I going to start working on 2 of my own applique designs that I started last year but stopped to work on this quilt. I have plenty of other projects to finish, mostly all applique. I will keep reading this blog and commenting. I also need to finish Kim's Basket Medallion quilt, which I have the center done (this is posted last August?). I'm also posting for my friend, Karen on the CWB blog site as we both made our deadline. It's been a fun journey !!!

  2. Julee,
You did a WONDERFUL job on completing this quilt. I admire that you completed all the circles and "finger trees" within your time frame. Well done!!

I certainly hope that Karen and you aren't going to compete against each other! It would so difficult to choose which quilt is more beautiful and wonderfully done!!

Makes me more inspired to get going on my "Princess Feathers" - I have all the fabric ... just need to get off the bum.

  17. Ditto to all the above. I especially love the birds & animals on the borders and the way you did the 4 corner blocks. Very inspiring. I hope to have my top finished in a couple months... but the hand quilting with probably take me another 6 months after that! Thanks for sharing your journey.
