A Kim McLean quilt top

Hi all

I thought I share a quilt top with you and tell you a bit about it, our group had the pleasure some years ago to have Kim come and do a class with our group at the Gold Coast Queensland/Australia.
The finished quilt top was appliqued and pieced by a friend Denise Lawson who sadly passed away nearly three years ago.
Her daughter came to visit our group a few weeks back and would like to learn to hand quilt so she can finish her Mum's quilt, seeing the top made me get my blocks out and start sewing them again. I have finished more then I thought and did eight today, will post a picture of my blocks in the next few days.

Happy stitching
Christine

  6. HI, I like that quilt so much. Which pattern is it? I'm sort of new at quilting so I have to learn so much still. I found out about Kim's quilts only a few days before this blog started. I love them all but this one is super.

  7. Yes Christine, I have fond memories of the class at the Gold Coast! Denise's quilt is gorgeous and I'm glad that it is going to be hand quilted by her daughter. Its wonderful the way quilts go - in this case it will span 2 generations and will loved by the next. I'm glad yours is coming along too. Love to see pics of it.
To Marion, the pattern is in Annette Gero's book - "The fabric of society" , but it is also sold through the museum where the the quilt resides ( I think it is called Woodridge House in Western Australia - have to check this name when I get home) Cheers, Kim McLean
