Another two "Sprigs" and my little applique tote

I am almost embarrassed to be showing my Sprigs blocks one at a time because so many seem to be able to complete them so much faster. But, progress is progress and sharing motivates me to keep plodding along. This one is my favorite because I love the way the colors work together.

This one is a scrap box creation. I just pulled pieces out of the scrap pile and it felt good to use some of those little bits I couldn't throw away.

I thought I would share the little tote I found to carry my sprigs blocks in progress with me as I travel for work. It fits right in my purse and I have everything I need ready to go whenever I have a few moments to stitch. It is the Mini Hanging Organizer by Vera Bradley. I would love to see what others use to organize their projects.

  1. Oh my gosh! Your little tote is perfect for our smaller stitching projects that we love to carry along. I hate idle hands, especially when they are mine, LOL. Hugs...

  5. Love your blocks and tote. I use a gallon size ziplock bag since it is the right size to keep the block flat; and my sewing supplies in a small pencil box. Roll them togethr, put all in my bag and spend many happy hours waiting in airports and other waiting places. The small folding scissors(2") are accepted in most airports now, so they travel well. It's funny to see my bag going back and forth in the x-ray machine. Makes me comfortable that they see the scissors and do a double check.

  7. It's so fun to finally see some Stars & Sprigs blocks popping up. Just so happens I just finished one of the same "sprigs"...the one you posted first. I love how everyone's are so completely different. I'm using any and all fabrics that speak to me for this one. Funny, I have a stack of Kaffe Fasset fabrics, but I really have a hard time with them. It makes my decision making process that much harder, and I have a hard time choosing my fabrics as it is. Hopefully, I'll post something soon. Fact is, I don't know how to do it!!!

  10. Taryn, it looks as if you are fussy cutting those stems too. Really like that brown fabric! Great blocks! I use an inexpensive clear vinyl zippered pouch from Keepsake Quilting for my supplies. Practical, but not very pretty. I like being able to see what I want to find in there. Have a pattern for a bag using both clear vinyl and fabric which would be nice. Now I just need to find time to make it.....

There's no rule that says we have to do our projects fast. Enjoy the journey..and we'll enjoy seeing your progress along the way too.
Your little travel sewing kit is wonderful. I like that you can see just where everything is. :)

  14. I favor having the ability to observe some tips i desire to get in now there. Have a style for a case using either apparent vinyl as well as materials which could often be pleasant. At this moment I must find time for it to make it...
