Well I was having an issue trying to choose fabrics for this block. I previously took my Westminster fabrics and put them into a storage box. For the life of me I couldn't see the fabrics (trying to be neat) well a quilting friend suggested, clean that table off and use it. Great idea. Now I can see everything. I was able to choose lots of fabric today!
looks like you made some great choices, A stunner in the making
ReplyDeleteI do exactly the same Paula, except my Kaffes are in about 8 Ikea wire shelving trays! Kim McL
ReplyDeletePaula, those fabrics are over the top gorgeous! I have to ask the name of the block you're doing.
ReplyDeleteWow Kim, you must have a huge selection. I also made an Aunt
ReplyDeleteMillie's Garden with WestministerFabrics. I just love them.
Hi Ellen, this is the right block of Kim McLeans Roseville Album.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've made some gorgeous progress!
ReplyDeleteYour panel is looking wonderful, Paula.
ReplyDeleteIt goes a lot quicker having the fabrics out that's for sure and you have a lovely selection. The panel is going to be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI try to do the same when I am working on a large Applique project. The sewing room is a bit of a mess then but it really helps to see all that is available and helps to weed out any fabrics that just are not going to work. This panel is looking terrific.
ReplyDeleteJust stunningly beautiful. It's a good thing the quilt stores are closed today or my stash may have taken a giant leap forward. Happy New Year
ReplyDeleteHi Paula!! I do offen find it difficult to choose the fabrics in one go. I normally select them on my way. But now working on the lower bloc with the two trees , I will definately try it your way. your colour choice is stunning!!!

Oh my goodness that is so absolutely gorgeous!! WOW!
ReplyDeleteI am self taught and having a wonderful time doing the Roseville album Vases and Flowers quilt. But I wondered what more skilled practioners do. Do most of you like to use freezer paper on the back of your templeses, freezer paper on the front, or even light weight fusible pellon the back?
ReplyDeleteFor a project like the Roseville, where I'm using a variety of fabrics I absolutely MUST have them spread out on the table like that. Your panel is beautiful. I especially like the fabric you've used in the wings of the lower 2 birds. just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth..I iron freezer paper to the top of the fabric, then pinch under the seam allowance on the line, and clip into curves, etc.. Then I baste right through the fabric and paper. It saves me from burning my fingers and I can do the basting very quickly while watching tv in the evening. I get very good results with smooth curves.
