Springing Basket Blocks

Two seasons have come and gone since my last post, but I have been working away at Roseville along with some other projects.  You can see I still have two gaps before the center section will be finished, but everything else is done except the borders.  it gave me an unexpected thrill to see these blocks again on the design wall.

Here are close ups of some of the blocks so you can see the fabric choices a little better.  I hope some of them illustrate Kim's tutorial on finding just the right bits for leaves and vases.

A few months hence, perhaps I will have time to begin some of the Pandemonium blocks.  I LOVE the new pattern and am already wearing it out with study.

  3. Terrific Marion, your fabric choices are exactly what I was trying to tell in the tutorials. The Radiation fabric you've used for the centre flower in the last block illustrates that perfectly as the others in the 3 earlier blocks. Beautiful Marion! Kim McL

  6. keep up the good work. This quilt should have been name Perservering in Roseville. You have to stay after it, it certainly isn't a quick project, especially if you make other quilts along. I love this quilt, it gives a quilter such an opportunity for creativity, there are so many wonderful fabrics out there you can choose from. Your's is beautiful.

  7. I so appreciate the encouraging comments, especially since this project is a long haul. It's the most ambitious project I have ever attempted, but every fabric choice and every stitch has been such a pleasure.
And Kim, that radiation flower in the bottom block is pieced! I hadn't tried it before, but I wanted to effect some veins in the flower. I expect we haven't even begun to see all the possibilities for special effects by piecing "kaleidoscope" style.

  16. Marion, love, love, love your blocks! You have done a masterful job with the fabrics. I have been reluctant to start the fruit bowl, but your fabric choices make it easier for me to picture how I might do mine--can't wait to see how you continue with your quilt!
