This blog is dedicated to applique. Glorious applique!!! The focus here will be hand applique, but there is room for machine applique too. Kim McLean is the designer whose patterns and quilts we will be working on together. Are you ready?! Let's SEW!!!
hmm. . . depends on what will surround it. What colors are the other blossoms I see penciled in? Same fabrics? "Spicier" fabrics? If they're spicer, like that orange, this central portion can serve as a calming point. But if the other flower heads follow the same fabric scheme, I'd either trade out the orange for something more harmonious or find a petal fabric that has more oomph against the white background.
Maybe you can lay the other pieces down and snap a shot for us to see how they interact together?
I like this, Paula, but it is an individual choice. I love orange so it would be hard for me not to like that. But if not orange, it definitely needs some stronger color(s) to highlight the white/green and stabilize it. And, once again, it's hard to judge when there are not only other pieces to be added to this but all the other blocks. Can you audition more fabrics and elements before you make a decision?
Hi Paula,
ReplyDeleteSince you asked for our input, I'm not sure about the orange part of the flower, love the whitish-green flower but the orange part? Mmmmmm.

I really like the fabrics, what is the whitish green fabric that you used for your flower, it would make wonderful leaves also.

ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome, but then I like white flowers with orangie centers.
ReplyDeleteIt's too early - you don't have all your fabrics on yet. It looks great to start.
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good--I like the look. Please show us more. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have to love it yourself but looks great to me, lots more pieces to go on yet.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure who the designer of the fabric is, but I thing it is a Westminister fabric. sorry
