I have my corner block for the top right position finished. I changed it a bit, besides swapping it's position. The fabrics I used seemed to emphasize the circular look to the block, which is why I placed it opposite the other corner block that had a circular look to it, but then it looked a little sparse to me. I added a couple of birds and some dots, and I think it looks a little more balanced.? It's funny to me, how different the blocks look just by the fabrics we choose.
I can't get a full pic because my room is so small..but you can kind of see how this block looks in position?
I do like your colours - especially those purpley blues and the pinks. How much have you left to do now?
ReplyDeletewhat a stunning quilt !
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! Love it all....I'm close to doing my corner blocks and have decided to change mine also.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful, Ann! I absolutely feel that circular motion to the blocks and like your placement. Love your choices. I agree that it's amazing how different fabric/color choices make the quilts look. You have really been busy and the blocks look beautiful altogether. What kind of quilting are you thinking of?
ReplyDeleteAnd has anyone seen the new Quiltmania? Haven't gotten mine yet but I see that there is going to be a "Meet Kim McLean" article in it.
Oh my goodnesss - what a work of art, Where is this quilt going to go once you have finisihed it? I hope you have somehwere special picked out for it - if not I have the perfect spot for it - just trying to be helpful.......
ReplyDeleteAnn, that quilt is over the top awesome!! I love your colors and just the whole thing. Wow, oh Wow!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a place for it if you don't...............
Thanks so much for the kind words!
ReplyDeleteI've just started working on the last of the corner blocks, then on to the borders!
The other botton corner block hasn't had the marks removed/pressing done yet, so I haven't takn pics.
I'm still unsure about the quilting. I'll be quilting by hand, around the shapes and a bit in the pieces, but still haven't decided on what I'll quilt in the background?
I don't have a particular use in mind for this one..it just wanted to be made! LOL
Magnificent Ann, love the quilt so far!! Love the way you've " squared" the bird block, looks great. It's lovely to see people adding / subtract elements to suit their quilts. Well done!! Love to see the bottom block when you're ready. Cheers, Kim McL
ReplyDeleteI posted my bottom panel in December. I don't know if this link will work?

Ann: Simply stunning! Would love to see a picture of the whole quilt top (maybe move the plant out of the way so we can see more). :)
ReplyDeleteAlso this picture will not let me click on it to enlarge it. The top photo is click-able, but not the picture of the whole top.
Kim: Will you be teaching at Houston International Quilt Fest this year?
ReplyDeleteAnn it's really lovely! Soon it'll just be the borders to go!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!!! Your almost done!
ReplyDeleteTeresa,
ReplyDeleteRe teaching at Houston ... I wish!!
Love the Houston Quilt Show, it is so huge! Kim McL
Thanks Ann, I will search for this bottom panel.
I was away in Dec and the computer was also on it's death bed! Kim McL
I am in awe, Ann!!! I LOVE your use of colors, fabrics and fussy cuts. Your personal touches are lovely. Amazing and inspiring!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, it is something to see the same patterns made using different fabrics - each has it's own unique look.
It's just gorgeous Ann and I love the two little birds, they look like they might be the chicks of the big momma bird.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe how quickly you have made this quilt! This block is so pretty, with the colors arranged to emphasize the circle aspect. You and I seem to have somewhat similar palettes, so you are inspiring me as I go. Good luck with the borders, and then on to the quilting!
ReplyDeleteOh, Ann, it is so gorgeous! I haven't been on in a whlie and come back to your beautiful top. It is stunning!
ReplyDeletehugs,
brenda
Ann your quilt is absolutely beautiful, you are probably the fastest stitcher on this list. Can't wait to hear what you do next.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours and the positive vibe the blocks are giving off.
ReplyDeleteOoh! I love it all together! I really like your choice of background fabric and all your color choices really. Fantastic!
