Roseville Bottom Panel

I finished another panel, Yeah! One step closer to my goal of May 20th. I made a few minor changes. For starters I accidentally reversed the pattern for the trees so all my birds and circles are in slightly different areas. Since we use to raise black Angus cattle, I had to make them out of black fabric and of course, a Bull....our close friends thought I needed a mule (because they have mules), thus the long ears on the pink one and we had several outdoor cats even a yellow one. I'm not familiar with the long horn billy goat, but I must confess, this is one piece that I sewed partly on with yellow fabric and thought it was too light and replaced it with the blue poka dot. This blue is much better and is very eye catching. This has been my favorite 'block' to sew, so far. This was a fun panel to do even though it took me 2 1/2 days for each tree.
Working on the top panel and already have most of it cut out and have sewed on one tree. I sure like having all of those circles ready for sewing.

  3. What a fun panel! I like that you personalized the animals. Those trees look great. I didn't notice they were different. They took me a while to stitch too, but they sure have a great look. ;)

  5. Turning the cow into a bull is a great idea. (I'm from Texas where we cherish our bulls). I love the way he looks. I also think you made a great call on the blue for the goat. Those dang trees do take a long time... I finished this panel too and I inadvertendtly reversed one of the horses, so I moved things around a bit too. But yours looks really good and well balanced. And I love the background fabric.

  10. Julee,

Love your panel, gorgeous fabric choices & the fussy cutting too! The green bird on the tree on the right is such a cutie, the black and white hen is yummy, what fabric is that? It looks familiar but I can't place it.
I think it's great that people are adding or subtracting patches into their quilt, it's personalizing the quilt. Next time I'll put a dog in the picture somewhere seeing that a lot of folks have dogs. We had cats and horses, but sadly the cats have departed to kitty heaven and horses have retired to a big property in the country. Well done & keep it up Julee, Kim McL

  11. Kim, the fabrics are Kafe, but don't know which collection. The third colorway is on the bird above the red horse. The fabric has pansies, daisies and other flowers all over it. If you look close at the rooster you can see part of a flower on his tail and their combs are part of a flower, all one piece fussy cutting.
Thanks for all the lovely comments.
