Princess Feathers

I want to share this beautiful quilt with you. My friend, Nancy Smith, gave me permission to share this quilt. She actually made the top, all hand applique, and I quilted it for her. Nancy specializes in hand applique and hand quilting and has made several of Kim McLean's quilts plus many many more.
One of the things that Nancy does on many is choose her own fabrics and colorways and does a beautiful job. She has made Flower Pots, Lollypop Trees, and the Hearts and Flowers quilt and they are all hand quilted.
I hope you enjoy seeing her work. I'll have to check with her and post some of her other finished quilts.
As I was quilting this I realized just how difficult it must have been to make, yet she did a wonderful job! Many pieces and tiny curves, but worth the effort. I'm sorry but I do not have a picture with a full view of the quilt but thought you'd enjoy the close-ups anyway.

  2. What a beautiful quilt! Nancy's applique and fabrics are wonderful. Your quilting takes it up a notch or two? It's fabulous! :)

I hand quilted my PF. Very labor intensive. I wish I could afford to have the Roseville quilted with your quality of work.

  5. Great photos, well done by both.
I have thought Princess Feather an amazing quilt since Ann posted her Princess Feather beauty.
Funny, when Ann posted her quilt I had never heard of Kim McLean or owned a single piece of Kaffe fabric.
    How times change.
I better go visit my lonely stash of Civil War Repros.

  22. The quilt is absolutely gorgeous. As everyone has already been commenting, both the appliqué and quilting. You should definitely get more photos of Nancy's beautiful quilts and convince her to join the blog conversation. She has an amazing talent. But I may be a tiny bit prejudiced. She's my mom <3
