Block 1 progress

Previously very fearful of attempting needleturn applique, as it looked so difficult, I can now say that I love it and have found it so relaxing to stitch a bit each evening in front of the TV.
Here's the progress so far on my 1st block, I had trouble choosing which fabrics/colours to start with & found all your advice really helpful, thanks girls :) Looking at this photo now I'm wondering if it is a bit too pink, hopefully the last 2 leaves will balance that out a bit. I'm not sure if I'll add all the smaller circles yet as I quite like this simpler version, I do tend to like doing things slightly different & rarely follow patterns exactly.......we'll see how it goes.
Loving this blog & catching up with everyones progress, real works of art are being produced here, keep it up girls!

  2. Gisele, I love your block with the dark background and I am so pleased to hear you say that you like the simpler look sometimes. So do I--a lot! I like the symmetry of this one too. You can't get too pink for me.

  5. SO pretty! Beautiful fabric choices. The colors really pop against the dark background. Once you have the other two leaves and the stem on I think you'll find the pink is toned down just a bit?
I look forward to seeing your next block! :)

  7. Your fear has definitely given way to beautiful work!! You went with the dark background, your turned edges are so smooth and the color choices look wonderful. The only time anything is "too whatever" is if you yourself are not happy with it. You can tell that we all love it!

  8. As far as adding the circles are concerned, you can always add more later as you finish the other blocks and then lay them out together...adding is easy, taking off, not so much.
