Cheers! I'm brand new to this blog and am so excited to have found you. I've been slowly and happily working on Lollipop Tree squares for the last two years. In reality, I am now working much more quickly than when I first started. It's my first ever attempt at applique and I love the work and the finished product :-) I have 5 more squares to go and am now starting to wonder about how it will ever actually get QUILTED. I'm curious to know what Kim recommends and to learn from others about your approach. I am happy doing hand quilting but often like the machine applique result better. What do you think?

  1. Hello..and welcome! I can see why you're thinking about the quilting..you're getting so close to being done.
I hand quilt mine, but if I had the money and knew someone who's machine work I knew and liked, I'd have the Roseville machine done. It takes so long to hand quilt!
We'd love to see pics of your work..we are such a visual group. :)

  2. We'd love to see your blocks and welcome! I think I'd like to machine quilt mine. I often look at the quilts at shows to see how the quilting is tackled.

  3. Hmmm, GREAT question... I finished my Flower Pots quilt nearly a year ago and have yet to begin quilting it. It feels overwhelming, and I have to admit to being intimidated.

Welcome! May we see any of your Lollipop Tree blocks...PLEASE?!?!?!

  4. Hope you are enjoying your visit - this is one fabulous blog! Yes, please show your Lollipop Trees. I think I will have to go with putting my quilts out to being professionally machine quilted - once you get your head around it, it can be very satisfying to have a beautiful finish to your quilt!

  5. Hi, glad you've found this blog, it's great fun!
Do you think you can post photos of your blocks please? Love to see them.

As for quilting, I used to handquilt under duress, now I send it to Kay Fernihough of Quilts on Q, she does a grand job on each and usually I leave it up to Kay to decide what quilting it needs. I used to have the quilts machine basted thinking I'll get around to hand quilting it, but it just didn't happen! I prefer to do the applique and I lose interest as soon as the top is done ( I consider that as " done")
    Cheers, Kim McL
