Moving right along

Progress has slowed a lottle, but my ambition remains alive. This shows my progress, not all are appliqued yet, but I need to take pictures like this to see the overall look easier. I can also study the layout and change what is not sewn down yet. Much learning has taken place, and I am inspired to keep going and try new ways as I follow all the projects. Stars and sprigs is on the horizon but I am to finish this for Christmas.

I would love any and all feedback, as I am still a beginner.

Pete

  2. Your block is great! I'm not sure which pattern you are doing. I just got the Stars and Sprigs pattern and it's next up for me after the holidays. I like your idea of taking pictures to see if things are settling in well.

  3. This is a pretty ambitious first block but it looks great! I use the "take a picture" all the time it really helps.

  4. Looks pretty good. Some people also suggest taking a b/w picture to see value, I think it is.

  7. I really like the idea of this block - I'm a bit of an odd ball and though I like applique, my personal taste for something to keep at home here doesn't go towards the Baltimore type quilts or (sorry ladies) the Stars and Sprigs - I've recently done some internet searching and found some lovely applique quilts that have elements that appeal to me (blog post made re this) but there's no pattern or style that's really jumped out and said 'make me' - but I'll keep looking

  9. Seems like you're on the right track here, Pete. Your colors are balanced and the bold black tree and background work to make the colors sing. Keep going!

Isn't a camera a quilting handy tool?! Digital pix make it so...sew easy to evaluate a block as you are working. Looks good.
