Partial Block 1

Okay, friends, and fellow crazed ones, here is what I've accomplished thus far. The two pink leaves are just pinned.........they were the first two fabrics I picked, and I read what Pam said about "trusting my choices", but, if y'all feel they are too "soft,   please let me know.  My thinking was that the outer dots, and birds would pull them into the design. Please don't hesitate to be completely honest  in your opinions, because I truly need you to be! Hope your stitching is going well. Michele

  1. OMG It is going to be gorgeous.

  2. I think your fabric choices are SPOT ON, Michele. My favorite is the upper most pink 'leaf' on the left. It's p-e-r-f-e-c-t!!! Trust your instincts, and you SEW, girl. ; )

  3. Wonderful fabrics and fussy cutting!!
    I can't wait to start mine. :)

  4. I love your greens and the other colours are fabulous. You've made a fantastic start. The only suggestion I can make is to watch the edges of the applique shapes that they don't match the value of the background or they get lost. Love the fussy cut flower in the middle!

  5. You go Girl!! Wonderful choices, keep it up.
You're doing great Michele. Cheers, Kim McLean

  6. I like the colors on the whole, but I think the pink flower on the left top is too present. I mean, I see the chrysanthem, not the leaf, and it unbalances the whole. I think offsetting the cut a little bit, so that you can't see the shape of the chrysanthem, would be better. Otherwise, I do like your choice of color.

  7. aren't you having fun!!!!
the block looks great, love all the fabrics your using nice balance I do have to agree with verobirdies comment I see the flower and not the leaf shape. but maybe that is what you want?
I am so glad for you that you started!
I can't wait to see more blocks!

  8. I don't do much applique, so for what my opinion is worth... I don't think the pinks work. The reason I say this, even though they are GORGEOUS fabrics, is because they don't contrast enough with the background fabric, so you can't see the beautiful wavy edges, the applique you work so long and hard on. The workmanship is lost in the low contrast, I think. But beautiful work, and I can't wait to see more from you!
