I love that this blog is a resource, with pictures that I can refer to as I stitch along. I went back to a previous post and looked at the squirrel panel magnified. I wondered how others were doing the stems and I have to say, I love the fan folded detail on the bird (lower right) of Pam's panel. Nice job.

That's one of the great things about the blog, we get to see different fabric and colour choices. Pam's whole panel so far is a delight.
ReplyDeletewow - what a feast for the eyes. I'm just loving this blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin,
ReplyDeleteThe stems on the side panels aren't made from bias tubes, they are applique pieces which have been hand drawn. You'll have to keep an eye as to which branch goes under what and which leaves have to be sewn on first. But, they are biggish pieces and you'll probably sew up the bits fairly easily. I did try using bias stems, it didn't work - the tree looked kind of weird with regular width branches! I hope this was what you were referring too?
Love Pam's panel too, looked fab on the dark background. I just love seeing what people are doing with their versions of the quilts.
Cheers, Kim McLean
I am THRILLED if this little blog is helping, encouraging, inspiring and maybe even educating us!!! That is SEW cool. : )
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robin! Some fabrics just WORK. While some others just don't. I'll be showing some of my don'ts in an upcoming post.
Thanks Kim,
ReplyDeleteYou should post this information for the whole blog to read.
