Flower Pots Progress...

Just want to share my progress on my Flower Pots. I am enjoying this project so much! The pieces are so big which makes it so quick to appliqué.

I have the top and bottom panels ready for appliqué.

The linen background is like butter to stitch. So I am thinking of hand quilting this baby. I've never used Pearl Cotton to quilt. I might try it with the #5 Variegated Pearl Cotton. Any thoughts on that idea?

  1. I quilt with perle cotton all the time...I think I use #8 [don't have one handy to check] just because it's a little finer and pulls through a bit easier, but still looks good.

  8. Thanks ladies!

Just said 100% Linen 60" wide, $20 yard. I bought it from GStreet Fabric here in Northern Va. Hope that helps.

  9. Your Quilt Is Beautiful, it seems like every time someone posts a picture of one of these beautiful quilts, I keep thinking I want to do that one next and I'm still waiting on my fabric to arrive. It gives us all a happy feeling to look at your quilt.

  10. So pretty! I haven't worked with linen, but have used Perle cotton for quilting. Be sure to get a chenille type needle with a nice sharp point. :)

  11. Beautiful, Lina! I love the linen background. I
have some linen waiting for a special project.
As with every post I read, I say to myself, "Now why didn't I think of that?" hugs,

  14. Hi Lina, just a quick note on the hand quilting - I hand quilt every quilt with Perle cotton, but I wouldn't use 5 it's too thick and you will curse every stitch. Use an 8 and you will be much happier! Your applique looks fantastic.

  16. It's gorgeous Lina! I often use a size 8 perle to quilt with. You could use a 5 but you'd need a bigger needle and bigger stitches to show off the thread so I would use it more for
    embroidery.
