Here are my Lollypop Trees! This was such a fun, colorful exciting journey and I enjoyed every stitch. I had previously made "Stars in the Garden", an applique quilt by Piece O' Cake, beginning in 1999 with several other friends, each of us making our own quilt. That is when I began to love applique, so when it was completed and I saw Lollypop Trees on the Glorious Color website, I knew I had to jump in and begin another journey. My friend, Ille Waters, joined with me and we sat for hours/days, trying to decipher what fabrics were used. I actually love choosing fabrics for my quilts but since we loved this look, we wanted to make it just like the photo. Thankfully, Liza sent me a much better photo that helped us see the fabrics better, and now there is a really good photo on the glorious color website. I completed the top this summer as I spent two weeks making the sashing and cutting the 500+ squares. Now, I just need to quilt it.
Here are a couple of close-ups. The quilt is so large I could hardly get it all in the picture and be in the same room. Thanks, Kim, for designing such a fun quilt. The applique is so easy to do.
Funny thing is, you feel like you are almost finished when you get the 16 large blocks made but then there are the baby lollies in the border, but they really make the quilt!
three cheers to you, looks wonderful and well done

It is beautiful, after seeing this I don't know which quilt I want to start, Flower pots or lolli pops.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty, it's absolutely wonderful - congratulations.
ReplyDeleteGlorious!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job and it is beautiful. This pattern is what drew me to jump out of my box and start appliquing more.....Hearts and Flowers first....then Lollys!
WooHoo! I'm so excited for you....you've done a beautiful job and it's very encouraging to those of us just beginning the wonderful Lollypop journey!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the wonderful comments! It was such a happy quilt to do and the journey was fun yet relaxing with every stitch. I am a longarm quilter so will be quilting it by machine with a 'custom' look. Guess that's why I'm waiting for a large block of time to do it. Judith Lockhart
ReplyDeleteWOW Judith it's beautiful!!!! I can hardly wait to make this quilt after seeing yours :0)

It is just wonderful Judith, have fun quilting it!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular Judith! Your applique is gorgeous..and you are very fortunate to be able to custom machine quilt this stunner. :)
ReplyDeletefabulous... I may have to get some KF fabrics for this one instead of the asian fabrics that I am using for Flower Pots.
ReplyDeleteDitto, ditto, ditto! What a gloriously happy quilt! I cannot wait for Rosemary to see this when she gets home tomorrow...plus she has her own box of Kaffe's waiting for her!
ReplyDeleteJudith, big kudo's to you!

Just amazing and inspiring. (After hearing how much time you've spent, I can see why I've only done one block.) It's so wonderful. So....once you get it quilted, what are your plans for it? After so much beautiful and time consuming applique work, can any of us just put one of these on a bed?
ReplyDeleteI can put it on a bed, happily. But what I cant do is put the pug and bulldog on top of it!
ReplyDeleteJudie this quilt came out great! And in less than a year...this would take me forever! Please bring it to retreat in January!
ReplyDeleteI could put it on the bed for looks. I've only made two quilts for 'heirloom' keeping and this will be one of them. However, all the many quilts I've given away are truly for using and wearing out with love! Thanks again for all the wonderful comments!
ReplyDeleteyour quilt is absolutely so beautiful, it is very inspiring. I cannot wait to get my fabric cut up to make my lollipops. My fabric is here and I just am so excited. It is going to be a wonderful journey
ReplyDeleteI finished my Lollypop Quilt today also and I know exactly how proud and happy you are. Wasn't that fun?
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous, would you like to post your photograph of your lollypop tree please? Love to see it! Kim McLean
