This blog is dedicated to applique. Glorious applique!!! The focus here will be hand applique, but there is room for machine applique too. Kim McLean is the designer whose patterns and quilts we will be working on together. Are you ready?! Let's SEW!!!
I have my third block finished that I worked on while on vacation. Most of this block was appliqued while driving across Quebec. I enjoyed reading all of the posts and comments while away.
Lovely block--you've used such fun/interesting fabrics that all look great together! I'm jealous of the fact that you can applique while driving--Quebec must have nice smooth roads.
I really like your block, it is so neat that everyone's fabric choices are so different. All of the quilts are going to look so different and so interesting and so very happy. Are you just pulling fabrics from your stash or did you buy certain fabrics for the quilt?
What a delightful block. My compliments. And I realy like the fabric you used in the center circle. And it all comes out so beautiful on your back ground fabric.
What a gorgeous block, Denise! And, how amazing to stitch and stay up to date on the blog while on vacation!? I too think I might turn green if I stitched in the car. What block is next?!
Thank you so much for all of the lovely compliments, they are all great inspiration to start my next block. I have chosen the block with the vase made from the blue flower fabric on the left center row. Luckily I can applique and read in the car, otherwise I would fall asleep and miss the scenery. The highway thru Quebec from Ontario is great for appliqueing and they also have rest stops every 30-45 minutes with nice picnic areas. Rosemary, I am using mostly fabrics from my stash and working in my 5 pieces of Kaffe fabrics that I bought after finishing my first block.
Beautiful Denise! Your fabrics are great! Which fabric is that - top left hand corner? I don't think I've seen that before. Your block is very vibrant, well done. And it amazes me that you can sew in the car, I think I'd be feeling a bit green in the gills. Cheers, Kim McL
Very nice - beautiful fabric choices. I don't know how you applique and ride at the same time but it looks great! Judith Lockhart
ReplyDeleteBeautiful block, Denise! Your background choice makes the fabrics sing! Looking forward to more "verses" of your quilt.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics Denise, your block looks wonderful. I am another one that falls asleep in the car if I don't read/sew/crochet.
